Principal Feasts and Holy Days 

There are a number of special feasts and holy days throughout the Christian year - each with their own theological truth:

PRINCIPAL FEASTS

CHRISTMAS DAY - God shared our humanity in Jesus
EPIPHANY - Jesus is revealed as Son of God and Saviour for all peoples
PRESENTATION OF CHRIST - being a Christian involves sacrifice as it did for Jesus
THE ANNUNCIATION TO MARY - God works His purpose though human beings
EASTER DAY - the resurrection and the hope of eternal life
ASCENSION DAY - Jesus now shares God’s glory
PENTECOST - God gives the Holy Spirit to us and to the whole church
TRINITY SUNDAY - God is Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit
ALL SAINTS’ DAY - the Saints are an example and a source of hope for us all

PRINCIPAL HOLY DAYS

ASH WEDNESDAY - we need to recognise our faults and repent
MAUNDY THURSDAY - the importance of Communion and we are called to serve others
GOOD FRIDAY - Jesus’ death was for us
